The aussie's triumphant return to this franchise was definitely worth the wait. Arnold's T-101 maybe osolete. But this condition does not hamper his abilities or prevent him from carrying out his mission. Insuring the safety of John Conner. I had a few reservations about Nick Stahl taking over the Conner role from teenager Edward Furlong. Naturally I thought having the adult Furlong would provide greater continuity, especially after over a decade. Stahl was quite impressive as the now rather wayward John Conner. A man who stays off the circuit, has no friends and still has nightmares about Judgement day. Director Jonathon Mostow brilliantly ties T2 and T3 together with the inevitable creation of Skynet and Conner's relationship with Kate Brewster played admirably by Claire Danes. His action sequences were reminiscent of those breathtaking traffic chase scenes in T2. I loved how Kate, like Sarah Conner, went from being a timid, unstrung "Snow White" to a hardcore, weapon brandishing soldier when she took out one of those menacing flying robots with a machine gun. It was even cuter when John told her she reminded him of his mother. Kristanna Loken as the TX was as beautiful as she was extremely dangerous and intelligent. Intelligent enough to control other machines including police cars and ambulances. No aspersions toward Claire, but Kristanna was the best looking thing in this film. I won't spoil the ending of course. I will say that it leaves room for an obvious T4. And I hope Arnold, all the other cast members and director Mostow return for it. |
