I knew that this wasn't gonna be your typical slasher flick. Don't get me wrong, there was enough gore to satisfy this schmoe, but not too much where it just gets ridiculous. After viewing this movie, I categorized it. Not in the thriller or horror category, but in the mind-fuck category. This movie was brilliant. The development of each character and how each one ended up in that flea bag motel was well done. You get to know their past, not too much, but enough to get a sense and feeling of that character. The setting of the movie was also perfect. Where better then in the middle of the desert in the middle of a huge thunderstorm completely cut off from civilization. It certainly set the mood for a creepy, dark, thriller. I'm also a big fan of John (the underrated actor) Cusack, and Ray (Go see Narc) Liotta. Who both performed their roles in this movie very well. This is one of those movies where I don't wanna talk too much about it because I do not want to spoil it for anyone. My recommendation is that you go and see it. And if you can guess the ending, give yourself a pat on the back, because I was totally shocked and at the same I was like; 'that's totally cool.' |
