Topic: Mulholland Drive.....(1 1/2 out of 4)....Spoiler Free! Forum: JoBlo

I'm done with David Lynch films. I'm like the kid who keeps touching the hot oven and never learns his lesson. Everytime one comes out, i hear how great it supposedly is, then watch and spend the rest of my life wishing I had that 2 1/2+ hours back to do something useful like jab pencils in my eyes. I don't want to trash the guy too much, because he has such a huge following. You cannot argue with that. Still though make a freaking movie that at least digestable on one viewing. He had me going for about the first 3/4 of the film, but after that i was completely fucking lost. That first section of the film is awesome. It sucked me right in and I couldn't wait to figure out how it ended. In fact this part of the movie might have been one of the best mystery stories I've seen on film. However That dream theory someone mentions above does makes some sense, so wouldn't it have made sense to include that in the movie. I like an open ended movie or story from time to time, but Lynch does a horrible job of it, by leaving it so freaking open ended. I guess me and Lynch just don't click. He's definitly not for everyone. The average filmgoer should probably just skip his movies for more palatable fare. But even the more hardcore film phile is likely to have a hard time with him as well. I think his style could work well if he just gave us more info. Muholland Drive isn't quite as hard to understand as say The Lost Highway which i still can't comprehend in the simplest level.
