Everything was good until the last 20 sumthin minutes which were obviously tacked on and hastily put together. It's obvious that Lynch meant for the characters to be developed over a longer period of time than 2 hrs. 27 mins. He should have ended the film after the woman opened to blue box, and then make a sequel to it later. The end was too hasty and mashed together to make any sense. This movie is hardly the mind-fuck masterpiece everyone says it is. Just because a movie makes no sense or is all a dream, doesn't mean it's a masterpiece. I can guarantee that had the director been unknown, instead of Lynch, this movie would have went straight to video without a word of praise, and it is so ridiculous that it got an Oscar nomination. It was mediocre, at best.
