Unfortunately it ended up taking it to a new degree of badness, but they at least tried to stay away from the formula and I have respect for people who try new things. --Jason seeing the poster of the hockey mask was TOO COOL for words! THE BAD: --This movie is, simply put, wasted potential. Who else would've preferred to see Jason really take on Manhattan instead of wasting time killing people on a boat and then ending up in Manhattan and not killing hardly anyone? Also, I think the lead character had potential to be a more developed character as her past with Jason was kinda interesting, but it was a hardly used plot device. --The acting and characters were AWFUL. I can put it no other way - I wanted everyone in this movie to DIE. I even wanted JASON to die! His schtick is tired! --Why would the boat even go ahead with the sailing if they knew there was a storm coming? This would be acceptable if the captain and crew only found out there was a storm coming during the sailing, but this captain knew beforehand therefore the sailing should've never even gone ahead. --The kills in this movie are bloodless, unimaginative and boring. Usually I can expect from good kills from a crap Friday movie, but not "Jason Takes Manhattan". --I would love to know how on EARTH Jason gets from place to place in this movie. One minute he's in an alleyway, the next at the top of a two-story building. And he's frickin' EVERYWHERE during the scene where he kills Kelly Hu. Also, how the goddamn hell did he get to bloody Manhattan by swimming so fast? Ridiculous! Jason can't teleport; he's still a human/monster/zombie/unkillable thing. --This movie is so boring and slow, it drags on even with a short running time. Did they really need that useless story with the muggers/rapists? What purpose did that stupid, overlong scene with the African-American dude keeping on punching Jason (I felt like that scene went on for two YEARS)? Just kill the bastard already. RATING: 2/10 - There are hardly any redeeming qualities about this film. I would rather got to a paint-drying contest than have to sit through this suspenseless drivel again.
