i have never been a huge fan of musicals, but i have to say that i was extremely imppressed wqith moulin rouge. i thought that the movie was all around a winner. when i first heard of who was starring in the film, i didn't think much of them. i had never really heard of ewan mcgregor, and i wasn't a big fan of nicole kidman. from the very begining of the film, i was impressed at how the concept and the setting was set. i showed mcgregor as a striving writer, who didn't think much of himself or his life for that matter. it seemes that the only thing that remotely interested him was love. the concept of love absoluteky fascinated him. on the other hand, kidman palyed a young girl working int he moulin rouge, kind of the "place to go" back in their day. the film is about how these two opposites find love in one another, and how they fight to make there love last. i liked the concept from the very begining of the movie, but what really interested me, was the way the film was presented. i absolutely loved the songs in the film, and i love the way they took popular songs from the past, and incorporated them into the movie. i especially liked the version of the police's roxanne, as a tango. i thought that was great. as for the acting, i thought that both of the stars in this film were wonderful. i thought that ewan mcgregor did a great job showing the extent of his love, and i thouhgt that nicole kidman did a splendid job of showing her love back. i definately don't think that this movie is fro everyone, but i sure liked it a lot. some people say that it's a major "chick flick," but i think that it's just the opposite. i give this movie a 9/10, and hope that anyone that goes to see it likes it as much as i did.
