LAND OF THE DEAD - 8/10 There were three titles before "Land of the Dead" was chosen: "Dead City", "Dead Reckoning" and "Night of the Living Dead: Dead Reckoning". 'George A. Romero' intended to make this film in his home town Pittsburgh - the story is set there and it's where he made his other zombie films. However his producers insisted on filming Toronto in order to take advantage of Canadian tax incentives. This is the fourth film in George Romero's zombie series which Romero says it takes place after Night of the Living Dead with no specific time frame. The last zombie film he wrote and directed was Day of the Dead (1985) which was released twenty years ago. Partly based on the original, much longer script for Day of the Dead. The view of the zombies rising from out of the river is an homage to the classic scene from _Carnival Of Souls (1962)_ where the dead rise out of the salt lake before the dance sequence. I liked how they managed to give you the same "taste" as they did with the other dead movies. Not sure if I liked some of the actors and/or their acting abilites. But for the most part George hasn't lost his style with making you regret the idea of eating a loaded pizza while watching one of his flicks.
