| I agree with robk, mostly. If you people can't handle some Star Trek clutter on the boards, then I hate to see how you react to the truly annoying things in life. However, it would probably have been best to put this in one thread, because then people like me could simply most my reviews for all the films in one thread. It's simply more user friendly, IMHO. SPOILERS AHEAD! Anyway, this is another great one . . . 8/10. The story is intriguing, the characters are all pretty well fleshed out, and, most importantly, it serves as an effective bridge between the original series and TNG. The themes on racial tensions and the conflicts that arise from it are also, unfortunately, timeless. These are issues in real life that will probably never go away, and the film handles the subject matter in true superb sci-fi fashion. Kang is simply an awesome character in this film. He exudes hate and arrogance to the point where you can't wait to see his eventual demise! I also liked all the winks to traditional elements that have always been present in the original series. Normally, this winking would be too obvious, but it is appropriate in this film, as it is a sendoff to the franchise, so it purposely has something of a "high school reunion feel" to it. |
