| The fact of the matter is, the debate over whether it is appropriate/inappropriate to release this film at the time it was released is irrelevant. What is relevant is the fact that the film is brilliant, no matter when it would have been released. This film is less drama, and more a chillingly realistic horror movie (in the same way Requiem for a Dream was, but even more so as this was an actual event rather than a "this could really happen" scenario). It was also a movie that made you feel proud of the brave individuals on board who prevented further loss of life, but amazingly did so without making you feel like that feeling was being forced down your throat. I think the detractors of this film are missing the bigger picture, which is shame, because this is an astounding film. 10/10 |
