First off, I don't believe it is too early to see movies with 9/11 themes or storylines. "Just what our enemies need to see, an on screen reminder of what their psychotic behavior is capable of" Or in the case of UNITED 93, what WE did to stop our enemies. Think of what would have happened if that plane had crashed in Washington. Movies about Americans taking a stand against an unrelenting enemy that wishes to do nothing but destroy us and kill as many people as possible, at any cost, is ALWAYS a good thing. It's inspirational. Surely you can see that. When I came out of WORLD TRADE CENTER I was angry. Not at Oliver Stone or anything, but just the fact that we still haven't caught Osama. I also came out with a great deal of respect for what those Police officers did that day, and being able to hear and see their story was fascinating and moved me. It also made me proud to be an American. Are you saying that that's a bad thing? "But I think it's pretty typical of Hollywood to make money from other peoples' losses." Yeah, you're right. I'm so wrong on this one. How dare they make movies about the Titanic (the highest grossing film of all-time), World War II, Vietnam, The Holocaust and the Civil War. I guess 'Schindler's List' was just made for money and not some other, more "important" purpose. I guess you're right... it's all just for money. Oh, hey, how about this, maybe these movies get made so that people don't forget about these important events. "When the war is over do you think we'll see a movie depicting all the good we did over there? No. You'll see a film degrading this country and it's administration for the mistakes we made" Well unless you can see into the future, you'll just have to wait and see, just like everybody else. Hopefully things will turn out for the good when all of this is over. But you can't tell how things will turn out in the future, now can you? Maybe you should see these films before making your mind up about hating them. I don't think you have a justifiable reason for talkin' shit about a movie until you've actually seen it. I think many liberals would like movies like these to flop, and for people to not go see them. Probably because it only encourages support for our country and a strong desire to kick some terrorist ass. We live in such discouraging times, and people all around the world are dying. These films at least provide a solid reminder of why we can't give up. It's not political propaganda. It's meant to be patriotic. And it is. I wish these films would make more money, because some of the proceeds are going to charities. Unfortunately these films probably won't make a profit. WORLD TRADE CENTER cost 65 million to make and has only made about 26 domestically. I doubt it'll make any profit. However UNITED 93 only cost 15 million to produce, and has grossed 31 million. So at least it did make a little money.
