Man particularly the motorcycle chase where nothing seemed real because everything lacked details. It was like those early video game engines, you didn’t have to be a movie geek to figure those sets, rooftops and buildings weren’t real. That killed the make believe element of the film and watching the film, I felt I was actually watching the bonus material (the Making of Ultraviolet), I saw right through. The main problem here is that Kurt Wimmer with an insufficient budget tried to do too much for a script that was poorly written and not worth any attention at all. He ended up filming those huge empty white spaces, he should’ve watched the Fifth Element (8/10) and reconsider 1) Saving his money to fill the spaces 2) Hiring another set designer 3)Biting at more than he could chew 4) Stopping his the Matrix (9/10) emulation and stick to his own style 5) Like in Equilibrium (8/10) make every dollar count. No one lasted long against her, that was another problem for me, Violet was to strong for no explained reason, she was driven to excel and be the best for nothing, I mean she wiped out the last remnants of her race and their leader like they weren’t even there. The fights (too many) with the government soldiers all looked alike there was nothing memorable or worthwhile to any of them, very deeply forgettable. Those Chinese gangsters weren’t very smart either and should’ve changed tactics after a few rounds. Having Violet dodge a few bullets and having them die like that was a good idea but logically, she should’ve grabbed a gun on the floor to finish the job herself. Agent out! |
