| Posted by: Jim H at February 13, 2003, 2:27 am | | Topic: True Romance (10/10) Forum: JoBlo | | "Nice to see his nod to HK films by showing A Better Tomorrow II in one of the scenes " Bit of a trivia note, after A Better Tomorrow was released, many dressed as Mark Gor (or Mark Lee, whatever you want to call him - Gor means brother in Cantonese, he's a Brother kind of like a Godfather is a Godfather) with the duster jacket and shades and white button shirt. Quentin did this, so it's only natural he had a reference to HK films in his movies. Also of note is that Reservoir Dogs is a very obvious remake of City on Fire, another Chow Yun-Fat vehicle. The clothes they all wear in the robbery are also from the end sequence of A Better Tomorrow 2 (one of the most legendary gunfights in cinema, and also where the scene in True Romance takes place). True Romance was very good, but I would not put it above Pulp Fiction. My second favorite QT movie. The scene with Dennis Hopper is one of the best ever. |
