I would personally love the version Singer gave to us over the "Truth, justice and the american way' Superman who can move planets and is never conflicted. Films need drama, and a 'more human' Superman creates just that. Of course, doing this in the film sacrificed time for 'OMGZ EXPLOZIONZZZZ' ie, tons of action pieces. But given what we saw in the last film, I'm willing to be there's plenty of it in the next film. I agree that generally Superman is a pretty boring character but i don't think him being the father of Louis' child was a good way to make us identify with him. I would much rather see him have an adversary that match his powers (superman 2) along with him fighting his conscience being an American wonder boy in a nation that wants to use unethical and drastic measures to fight this opponent or something along those lines that ring true with todays times. I actually think Batman Begins did that in a way (the League of Shadows illogically running down a city when it is overrun with crime), but I could and probably am pushing it a bit with that one. |
