| Singer's Superman Returns (I think) is a great damn film. Obviously, it needed another big action spot, but the stuff that was there was absolutely incredible. But his decision to 'plant' his film between 2 & 3 was a tough one, for sure. I dont know if you can remake Donner's Superman, so his decision was probably wise in the end. the problem Singer had was the main problem with the character of Superman himself. He's BORING. I would personally love the version Singer gave to us over the "Truth, justice and the american way' Superman who can move planets and is never conflicted. Films need drama, and a 'more human' Superman creates just that. Of course, doing this in the film sacrificed time for 'OMGZ EXPLOZIONZZZZ' ie, tons of action pieces. But given what we saw in the last film, I'm willing to be there's plenty of it in the next film. |
