Topic: WHY PETER JACKSON WHY Forum: JoBlo

The funny thing is is that the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are pretty different stories and since the only character that i can think of from LotR that could be in Hobbit is Gandalf. They could get Ian Holm back to do Bilbo since he's not supposed to have aged since obtaining the ring but i doubt they would even do that. I don't think it will matter that Jackson ins't directing, esspecially since he's still overseeing apparently, cause its just such a different story from LotR. I think if anything if he did it there would be the chance of them making the LotR movies seem deminished as with new tech they can acheive more in spical effects and the like. So to have it visually different i think would preserve the quailty of the LotR movies. And not to mention Jackson isn't the best at getting things together. There was a ton of craming to get Return of the King to the point where they seriously almost missed the release date and Jackson hadn't even seen a final finished cut of the film until the premier! I mean it all worked out in the end luckly but i would hate fomr something similar to happen to the Hobbit and it not all work out in the end. So i'm all for a different director as long as Jackson is overseeing.
