I see what you're saying here, but to be fair, Paramount has not really given us any reason as to why it's being released in January. The reasons I stated earlier were pure speculation. But it makes sense to me. It's a win-win situation for both parties: Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams get a larger audience due to the lack of practically any other movie coming out (thus, a better chance of the movie getting better reviews) and Paramount gets more money.
