I enjoy his work quite a bit. One of my favorite directors in fact. What I don't understand is why so many people pay attention to what he says at any other time than when he is actually in the process of filmmaking, pimping said film to the press, or maybe on a DVD feature. I could care less otherwise. The first analogy that comes to mind is when musicians, for example, talk about politics. I don't care. Play your music. That is what your merit to me is based on, not your world view, although you are welcome to your opinion. Just like everyone else. As for drug use, I would hope that he is smarter than that, but one never knows. Addiction can be a slippery slope into a hole that's hard to get out of. That goes for everyone, not just the famous. Beyond that, I could care less what drugs he does as long as it doesn't impede his job. Making movies. Nothing fucks up a career like a terminal overdose. I guess my biggest advise to everyone would be to ignore him, and other celebrities when they are doing anything other than their jobs. Stop being a slave to the media machine. Their merits lie in the art they produce, not who they are as people, or what's going on in their personal lives. P.S. If I'd done everything I've told people I was going to do when talking shit I'd be a rockstar/director/stuntman/astronaut/comic book artist/pornstar, and more.
