The Dark Knight - I liked Batman Begins well enough, and Heath Ledger's performance in the trailer alone was amazing. Can't wait to see the full film. 2. Iron Man - ok, I'm not a big fan of Marvel or the Ol' Shellhead, but the trailer was pretty cool, the effects look neat, and I'm praying that this is one Marvel movie that doesn't get bogged down in angst (Hulk), campiness (Spider-Man, FF), or completely botch the character's origin and additude (Punisher, Daredevil). 3. Star Trek - Enterprise and most of Voyager aside, I'm a Trek fan (DS9 being my favorite series). I'm curious as to how this will work. I'm still on the fence at this point as to whether or not they can make this work, and given that it has the same writers as the crappy Transformers movie (yes, I was not the least bit impressed by that film) my expectations are not high. That said, I'll go see it in theatres because its Star Trek and because this could be the one that either saves or utterly destroys the franchise. 4. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - I wasn't really pumped for this one until I went to the official site and started watching the trailers for the original three films and remembered how much fun they were. Cate Blanchett's character looks way too goofy, but other than that the few promo pics I've seen so far look pretty cool, even if the story does take place about 20 years after the last film. 5. Hellboy II: The Golden Army - liked the first film, even though the ending was a bit anti-climatic. I've never read a Hellboy comic, so the fact that this isn't based on plots from the comics doesn't bother me. It will be interesting to see what Del Toro can do when given free reign on the character and concepts. 6. Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay - the first one was ok, and there really isn't much else in the way of comedies coming out that I want to see. The plot sounds goofy enough to work and has possibilities for a film that will no doubt try to be as offensive as possible. 7. Jumper - cool concept. Neat special effects. May not be the greatest movie ever made, but it might be mildly entertaining. Not sure when Incredible Hulk and Bond 22 are due, but interested in those as well. Bond 22 to see how well Daniel Craig handles himself in his second outing as James Bond and Incredible Hulk to see how a new cast and crew handle the character. Movies I don't want to see/have no interest in: X-Files 2. The franchise is dead. Just let it rot for god's sake. No need to make this other than the fact that Duchovny and Anderson need the work. |
