I've just seen the new Diane Lane movie "UNTRACEABLE" and I have to say that I think I've just watched one of the most gruesome and disturbing deaths I've ever seen on film and TV. Forget the starved guy in "SE7EN" (which "UNTRACEABLE" really reminds me of), forget the napalmed guy in "WE WERE SOLDIERS", forget Anakin's "death" and rebirth as Darth Vadar in "STAR WARS: EPISODE III". The heat lamps scene in "UNTRACEABLE" is just... well... "nasty"! SPOILERS: The innocent victim wakes up (after being kidnapped) with his lower legs and hands in cement. He is unable to straighten his back and is in agony from the back pain. He then has a rag stuffed in his mouth and high wattage heat lamps are turned on one at a time as more and more people visit a website that the killer has set-up. After quite a bit of time the heat lamps turn-on and intensify. More hits on the website and other heat lamps turn-on. The guy starts to blister. His skin peels off. He is cooked and his features melt away. The poor guy is cooked alive! And you see it all in gory detail. That is "NASTY"! SPOILERS END: A good solid thriller with some truly awful deaths in it. What is the most gruesome death or scene you've seen in a film? With reasons why... So... "UNTRACEABLE" would be mine. I'd give the film an 8 out of 10 by the way. Good solid thriller that is very intense and suspenseful. Diane Lane is superb. It has that gritty feeling of dread that was so effective in "SE7EN" and "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS". |
