I thought it was a very sweet movie, and didn't have too much of a problem with the ultra-hipness of Juno. However, I wish they'd written her as like an internet-geek or something. There's no way in hell a 16 y/o would develop that much pop insight without a little help, OR if they'd given some backstory on the mom as being an overgrown teenager, or something --- dunno. I saw this back to back with Knocked UP, and honestly felt Knocked Up was the more authentic of the two movies. Juno even had some gyno facts wrong --- you don't get an ultrasound on your first visit, and no way in hell will;l they just invite some lady standing outside the nursery in to see her baby. However, the sentiment of this film is the winning point, and the actors sold it perfectly. It really was a very cute film. Someone mentioned before that it seemed as if Mark was hitting on JUno, and I thought this was the case. He thought that he was impressing this teenage girl by being so cool, and it thereby provided the reasoning for him to 'move on'. That's why he asked her what her coming over was all about. He reminded me alot of Spacey's character in American Beauty Aside from that, though, it showed the growing up Juno needed to do. Note that what her stepmom said about her relationship with the family was exactly the case. It was a very sweet movie, and it scores its points from me on that. The movie was about the differences between maturity and immaturity and that rang through, making a very good point at the end. I think Mark might have been impotent, though it never says --- I just thought it was cool, the contast between Juno and (cero's) relationship and between Mark and Vanessa's.
