Can't believe you didn't think much of this film at first. I really loved it. As a film of entertainment, it was by far the best of 2006... it didn't insult anybody's intelligence and it had a great story that was more about the character's obsession than it was about the twists. What I loved about the film is how it shifted into a sci-fi story midway through. It reminded me of Lost in a way, how they take a basic situation of getting stranded into an island and toss in some mystical sci-fi action. I don't know if it's Jackman's best work. I really thought he gave it his all in the Fountain, but for him to have both films come out in the same year is pretty great. He owned that year as an actor. Even today, I can still catch the film if it's ever on TV, doesn't matter which part because it still gets my interest.
