But I promise you Warner Bros. is holding their breath to see what happens between now and the release of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. SUPERMAN is underperforming. Not by much, but still not what was hoped for. By comparison, last summer WAR OF THE WORLDS only dropped 32% on its second day of release SUPERMAN RETURNS dropped 47%. This is not a good sign. I also beg to differ with those claiming the word of mouth on this film is “good.” All the comments I’ve heard from regular movie goers is that SUPERMAN is “boring.” SR will struggle to get to $250m, maybe not even $200m. Either way, the result is the same: despite all the pre-summer predictions, SUPERMAN clearly will not be the top film. I asked it before, I’ll ask it again: how many heads will roll if X-MEN 3 out-performs SUPERMAN RETURNS? Congrats on your 8,000th post, Jon!!! |
