I thought it was a failed mish-mash of fantastical and whimsical farce and father/son drama. And it was neither funny nor touching and involving. And all of the performances were dull save for an amusing turn by Willem Dafoe. Bad movie IMO. Whereas I found The Darjeeling Limited to be a solid mix of comedy and drama with some scenes that were amusing and some that were actually quite touching. I really believed in the chemistry between the brothers. It was a very good movie. A definitely huge step up from the failed Life Aquatic. The Royal Tenenbaums is still my favorite Wes Anderson and is a PERFECT mix of comedy and drama working wonderfully as both, featuring great performances from a stellar cast (especially the wonderful Gene Hackman in a note perfect performance). Infact, it's a masterpiece. I don't think Anderson will ever make a better movie. That's how much I loved it. |
