I'd say a good 50% of the flicks you listed are great. 25% good-to-great. 20% so-so and 5% poor. The Descent is probably the finest horror of recent years. The Shining is DEFINITELY one of the greatest horrors ever made. Hot Fuzz is a lovely little comedic splatter-fest. In Bruges is an unexpected treat. Monster House is quite delightful in tone...and refreshingly angled towards kiddies and kiddies alone. Closer is sharp...Patrick Marber an acerbic wit. I won't go on.
