Topic: Would it be better to Never Watch Trailers Again? Forum: JoBlo

So I was thinking, hollywood has become so good at manipulating trailers to appeal to multiple audiences that's its almost become pointless to watch them. An action movie will have an Action Trailer, A romance trailer, a comedy trailer, etc...the problem is almost none of the trailers are being honest about the movie. Take the Trailer for Revolver. Watching that trailer you would think it was a regular gangsta shoot em up. Those who have watched it know the trailer was a big lie. I enjoyed Revolver, dont get me wrong, but the trailer is bullshit as are most trailers these days. Those also the ended annoyance of trailers showing to many of the best scenes in movies thus robbing us of the pleasure of enjoying said scenes in context. About 2 yrs ago I started to just watch the first 30secs of a trailer to get a feel for it and then cutting it off. I would just decide based on what I saw at the start. This saved me from seeing alot of the best parts of the movie. I never say the whole trailers for most actions movies sense then. But thats not enough anymore. So I'm considering not watching anymore trailers and just going to the movies based on synopsis, director reputation and word of mouth. I really believe this will increase my enjoyment of movies tremendously. I know you guys have had these same concerns with trailers so what do you guys think? is this something you would consider doing? Have you found some other way around it?
