| I don't feel at all guilty when watching a film of this sort. In fact, I think this type of film is really important in making the public remember these tragedies (or, in some cases, making the public aware of them at all) so that we can work to prevent them from happening again. Even with a certain degree of creative license taken, I personally feel more for people in a given situation if I can watch a representation of the events. It may be a sad statement, but show me a documentary with interviews from witnesses and experts, supplemented with archival footage and whatnot, and I'm more than likely going to wander into daydreams and distracted thoughts or simply fall asleep. Make me feel like I'm right there with them, experiencing the same emotions they are and I'm more likely to be moved to see things from a new perspective. |
