Forum: JoBlo | | I stand by this a hundred percent - The screenplay for 'True Romance' was much better than the film Tony Scott turned in. It had more characterisation, better dialogue, and the ending made more sense. (Perhaps a 'Director's Cut' contains some of these moments - particularly Clarence/Drexyl's confrontation, which is much longer). The story, according to Tony Scott, is that he and Tarantino discussed this and...I think 'Reservoir Dogs'. Tony Scott said to him - and check out the balls on Tarantino - 'I want to do both'; to which Tarantino replied, 'You can only do one'. Tarantino was no-one, then, but he still had the courage to stand firmly... I wish Tarantino had done both. So, not a a bad movie - 7/10 sounds about right - but I will always think of it as the movie Tarantino should have had on his directorial CV. Helluva cast, too. |
