I love the movie, but if you really it is rather pointless. The entire movie ends up being a constructed story by the main character by things he sees from the cop's office. I believe Ebert felt like he was being jerked around and in the end, he felt it was for no reason. I can understand that even though I don't agree with it. Pointless? Not really. The way the story was put together was damn near brillant. I LOVED how the story was told from Spacey's point of view. It was really well done. I just think Ebert didnt bite into the hype. He has a habit of going againist the norm. He really hated Fight Club too but I can see why. The dude is in his 70s and that film isnt really geared towards that generation.
