| I agree that overall , Nolan has captured a hypnotic visual landscape with regards to the actors . I can't leave out the cinematographer because obviously that's the person filming everything . They always seemed to utilize the proper angle to affect a certain mood or emotion and they knew when to get close or to take things back a bit . The framing of each shot is powerful , it was to the point that the cinematography became it's own character , it no doubt enhanced the excellent performances , and although i did have a problem with the way the finale in the building was filmed , all the other action scenes were expertly captured , with great lighting and judicious use of editing . There's only a few directors with this ability , PT Anderson and Scorcese come to mind , but Nolan obviously has this gift also . Here's something to think about , from what i recall , there was not one instance of slow motion in this film , or was there any cross fades , dissolves , it was all hard cuts , nothing fancy with the transitions or manipulation of frame rates ( i don't know about that one , they may have sped some scenes up , but it didn't appear so ) , it was all very organic and natural , and that intensified , highlighted the realistic atmosphere . This was shot in a traditional sense , it's like a throwback film in that sense , i think he was very careful not to get too fancy because there was no need for it . Because of that , the film flowed effortlessly from one scene and one sequence to the next . Elegant simplicity . The fighting scenes had a deliberate cadence to them and Batman wasn't looking to brawl if he didn't have too , one perfectly placed blow was all that was required in most cases , that was a sign of his crime fighting maturity and confidence . And he used his cowl as a weapon ( knocked the Joker back on his heels and sent him scrambling ) , that was terrific . And if AJ is Catwoman in the next film , i just may skip it in the theaters , i can't see her anywhere near this franchise . I'm sure Nolan can be a bit more creative and find someone else . I already have someone in mind , a dark horse pick , the lady who played a special forces operative in the french action film The Nest , although i don't know if she speaks english , i'm thinking way out of the box |
