Damn straight. The visual quality of the film is pretty rich. There's a lot to take in. I think it's definitely Nolan's greatest looking film to date. How he chose to film the characters was my favorite part. I have seen it three times, twice in IMAX, and I always found myself studying the characters' faces. In this one, Batman's new suit actually really defined him in a new way. Bale seemed so much more comfortable as Batman this time around and it showed in the new suit. His movements were so much more economical and had power. Two-Face looked great. I thought the effect looked rough enough for me not to notice that it was CGI. Usually CGI is used to make very pretty things that are almost too beautiful to really exist, but this film went the opposite direction and it paid off big time. And of course, seeing the Joker is the best... this is the best Heath Ledger has ever been filmed. Every facial movement, hand gesture, it was all captured so great in this one. As for Jolie as Catwoman... I wouldn't want to see that. I feel that Jolie, like Depp, has become the go-to actor whenever some juicy-hammy type of role comes up since 2000. I personally don't care for her acting chops. I think she's very one note. Like I said before, I'd rather see someone like Christina Ricci take the role. She was more famous when she was a kid, so it would be interesting to see this one push her back into the lime light. She was really good in Black Snake Moan. I could see her doing the banter scenes with Batman perfectly. |
