Now they now there is a guy who´s willing to go that extra mile to stop crime, even if it means killing someone. Thats the whole point of " this is the kind of hero this city needs". I think they made it pretty clear through the movie when every mob guy was kinda telling Batman that they weren´t afraid of him cause they know he won´t kill. you're right , maroni told batman that the mob won't deal with him or take him as seriously as the Joker because he has rules , the Joker doesn't have any , so batman , to a certain extent , lost the element of intimidation , it was replaced by the fear that Joker struck into the hearts of the police , the mob and the citizens . now batman is seen as a sort of an extension to the Joker , and people are going to be wondering where his loyalties lie . that's okay , because he can and will use the public's perception of him as a renegade vigilante to his advantage . to a certain extent , that's what needed to happen , he had to become a sort of Joker in spirit , an unstoppable force that will mete out justice ( or chaos ) by any means necessary . it doesn't have to be true , he just needs other people to think it is , post hypnotic suggestion . he must nurture this facade and use it to his advantage . a batman with no rules is much more frightening than a guy dressed up as a clown with no rules |
