Im sure people will make connections to 9/11 in their minds as they watch the movie, but the book is more about 1980's Regan Era Nuclear Armageddon Paranoia (wow, cant believe I just came up with that) plus, the movie takes place almost entirely in 1985. Though Im sure as people watch it, they will adapt it to their current life experiences, 9/11 included. More then anything though, I hope that like in the book, what shines through is humanity (and yes hokey as it may sound, LOVE) in the midst of all the chaos. I hope the movie sticks to its roots and doesnt pussy out on the ending, which knowing how hollywood works will more then likely be the case. I guess some sacrafices can be expected for a story of this magnitude to get to the silver screen. Then again, maybe Snyder will surprise us? |
