But, as far as I'm concerned, it's merely a GOOD film. It's NOT great and it certainly DOES NOT DESERVE nominations for Best Picture or Best Director (Jason Reitman?! Give me a fucking break here! What about Tim Burton, Andrew Dominick, David Fincher, Paul Greengrass, etc.?). Jonny Greenwood was absolutely screwed out of a nomination for Best Score. The Academy can say the score was "ineligible" all they want, but Greenwood's score was fucking awesome and it deserved a nom. They really, really suck. No nomination for Nick Cave & Warren Ellis for their AMAZING score for The Assassination of Jesse James... either. They also forgot to nominate Howard Shore's score for Eastern Promises, which I thought was bloodly fantastic. Ruby Dee for Best Supporting Actress for American Gangster -- are you kidding me?! For what?! 4 minutes of screen time?! All I remember is her slapping the shit out of Denzel Washington -- THAT'S IT! They just wasted a nomination of her. They really, really did. Why does Enchanted have 3 nominations for Best Song? Why? All of those songs are nice and pleasant. But why 3? Why 3? JUST PICK ONE FUCKING SONG AND BE DONE WITH IT! I just saw a video for Eddie Vedder's "Guaranteed" from Into the Wild the other -- great song; it deserved a nom. But the Academy brings up their "ineligible" BULLSHIT again, so... whatever. Take out The Golden Compass and replace that with 300 for Best Visual Effects, and I'd be a very happy man. The Academy obviously decided against that. The Academy always finds a way to piss me off every year.... *deep sigh* Strider |
