Topic: Certain Films Are Better If Watched On VHS ... Forum: JoBlo
it's not only nostalgia, it's a certain asthetic. Same thing for films that were shot on video. The picture has a certain quality that takes the movie into a certain time period (80's to late 90's). I saw some episodes of COLD CASE, which is awesome btw if you are into different film stocks and techniques, and they recorded some flashbacks on video. It created a certain feel, much like the dogma movies or similar to shooting on mini-dv (e.g. INLAND EMPIRE)... Some movies are only awesome because they have this extra layer. So, indeed, I'd prefer to see some movies on VHS (e.g. YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES), rather than on dvd or blueray.
