And I made a few notes: I really liked how the relationship between characters was handled, using the testimonial video, we get to understand the characters. Regarding Hud, he is Robs Main Man, cut him some slack, if it wasn't for him he wouldn't have gotten to talk back with Beth, and look for her, and run for their lives (well at least for their last 30 minutes of their lives). The most unreal thing about this movie was Marlena's wound, with that size and depth of wound, she should be crying (or even fainting of pain and shock). She pads here wound with a cloth. That would sting like hell, she doesn't make a noise. Distance and Time.
When they leave robs building and they are trying to decide where to go, when can see in the background the lights of Brooklyn Bridge, then they start walking towards it, the camera fixed mainly on the bridge, everytime cut the bridges appears closer an closer until Hud is beneath it. Distance and Time are cautiously fixed through out the film. The Monster The first time I saw this movie I saw it with 1 monster in mind. But the first time I saw it and then seeing the toy from hasbro, there were a couple of things that didnt add up at the end: The attacks The type and amount of destruction
The size reference between the monster the city
The toy from Hasbro (when it was released I was really impressed at how different it looked from the movie) It made me think about the theory of MORE THAN 1 MONSTER or THE RAMPAGE THEORY (I think the frist rumors about this movie were that it was a Rampage video Game movie) The attacks.
Are all over the city at the same time, but it also looks that the monster is going in circles. He beheads the statue of liberty, then it appears close to robs apartment, then passes in front of the building (and brings down at least 1 building, this is just by looking at the debris), it goes towards Brooklyn bridge, the same way people go later on. The type and amount of destruction - The size reference with the city
Beheading of the Statue of Liberty
Brings down many buildings
Breaks in 2 Brooklyn bridge (first the is a Tail or tentacle)
The TV screens on the electronics shop shows the monster really good.
The subway entrance scene, give a good idea of the size reference of the monster. I know people are saying that the head of the monster is different than the head of monster at the last part of the movie, but this is just because the monster has a jaw like and anaconda (with fangs inside) Now Ive seen many drawings of the monster but this one is the one I think looks exactly at the real deal: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dasclem...7603792258527/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dasclem...36446/sizes/o/ vs http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitsune...83281/sizes/o/ WHY IS THE HASBRO TOY SO DIFFERENT THAN THE REAL THING? Ive just watched a video in which one can see another Hasbro Toy of the Cloverfield monster, the video states that the first (silver colored) toy was just a prototype. |
