I agree. I never once thought of Blade II whilst watching Hellboy 2. They have some similar aspects, but they're very vague similarities that fall apart when you start getting into the details. They make they choice they gotta make then they deal with it. I liked that message. Exactly the point of the movie. Remember the tag line? "Believe it or not, he's the good guy." That right there sums up everything you need to know about what the characters are about.
