| The point about the music being out of place? Well, the girl made the movie out of his footage. She added music to it, why the hell not? It was her boyfriends wish to make a film out of everything that was happening, it was his dying wish, she granted that wish for him and made the film for everyone to see. I dont find the music distracting, movies are better with music. Its not that his movie "isnt scary enough" and therefore it needs music. Thats a dumb thing to say, most of the best horror movies have music, whats wrong with this one having it? Cause its documentary style? Thats lame. Music is part of the horror movie formula. Its used to augment the fear. So what if Blair Witch, Cloverfield didnt have music, theres no rules that say "if your making a movie like this, you cant have music in it". Romero is directing, his the one in charge, and if he wants music in there to augment the fear, so be it. Im not gonna be anal about it and be like "oh no, this is a documentary style film, and its got music! No! Romero is breaking the rules!" By the way, thats a theme Romero has through out most of his films. Break the rules, go your own way. Fuck whats established. I didnt find it preachy because it was supposed to be live. And in real life, people dont gloss things over so much, specially not if they are in a tight situation. People say shit however they feel it, raw, no sugar coating. Whats wrong with that? You have to have everything said in a movie be disguised and not so obvious? |
