The Bourne series has grown in prestige over time, rather than Bourne Supremacy coming out and everyone going "this is what we have to do". Now, successful as those movies are, almost every major success of the decade has been the opposite. Lord Of The Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter... none of that is grounded in reality. The reason why the Batman movies and the Bond movies are grounded in reality is because the last movies they made, which were campy, failed. No one likes failure. The pendulum is just swinging back.
