Doesn't the idea of a guy in a bat costume roaming the streets fighting crime in your city intrigue you despite the fact that you might think such a thing would be insane? I also think it depends on the kind of director that is doing the movie - if Tarantino picked up the franchise after Nolan, I don't think you would want Quentin to add more fantasy to Batman franchise. You defend Burton, because fantasy is his business.
