Thats why most drive-ins have disappeared, its too hard to stop people from bringing in their own food and without concessions sales there just isn't that much profit to be had. But drive-ins can be successful because overhead is a lot lower, you need less employees, don't need to have large electricity bills to run the theatre. Exactly what I just finished reading about in this textbook I'm studying...made me respect the jacked up prices and actually almost consider it mostly a donation to a dying movie experience (with DVD sales, piracy, on-demand, internet viewings all on the rise) that nothing can ever compare to (at least for me) And I just went to see this special event at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge, MA...one of those small art house type theaters...and I fell in love with the place. I kinda wanna open my own one of these days.... |
