Wall-E Outright, my intention is to say that Wall-E is flawless, which, technically it is. It's only fault, if you'd even define it as such, is an ironic one that I'll try to explain later. With that said, Pixar has delivered their best film since Finding Nemo and, in my opinion, blows those silly fish out of the water. The opening is an easy invitation as it establishes Wall-E's obliviousness to his own solace on a planet purged by a troubling emptiness. Your mind begins churning immediately and the answers keep coming with masterful subtlety. In contrast, Wall-E first appears content making up for his daily routine with child-like archaeological wonderment. Just when Wall-E comes to to realize the truth of his own loneliness his entire world becomes redefined. With the introduction of a heart throb in the form of advanced robot Eve, Wall-E chases a longing for romance that, unbeknownst to him, ushers in a world saving adventure. Wall-E's one and only fault can only be equated to the weight of it's own premise bowing slightly in the middle. This can be argued as not a fault whatsoever but completely intentional and perhaps unavoidable. Halfway through we find where all the humans have disappeared to and why. Their complaisant slavery to their own technology is as lifeless as it's very own atmosphere suggests. Some people might fight to remain captivated through this. The irony to this point, however, is that the entire plots focus feeds off this aesthetic. Which is why I believe that this might not be a fault at all and instead a very important thematic necessity to depict the moral of the story. No matter how you look at it, Wall-E towers above the finest acting it's human competition can offer. Wall-E shows us why film is a moving visual art. The dialog is extraordinarily light and makes up for it handsomely with arresting emotional simplicity. The chemistry between the lead robots is palpable. They only say three words to each other which include "Wall-E" and "Eve". This film proves that you don't need extensive narrative or dialetic meandering to convey a deep emotional connection. Wall-E is a poignant masterpiece that's emotionally gripping and striking in it's brilliance. It demands the child inside you to let go and remember what it's like to cherish young love and appreciate the beauty in simplicity that surrounds us always but sadly goes ignored. Wall-E teaches us that regardless of our arduous day jobs and mundane lives there is always something out there that can turn that around if you don't let it go -- if we let our minds remain open. Score: 10 / 10
