| There's nothing to disagree with. Crime-drama focuses on the specifics of crime. The term itself explains that. The drama is in the crime. The focus in Goodfellas was not how they pulled off their crimes, but on their lives. Goodfellas is a drama in the most classical sense. Just because a drama is about criminals doesn't make it a crime-drama. You can have a crime-drama that dramatize criminal procedures, and most crime-dramas show both sides. Heat, Thief, Zodiac, Untouchables... I can't think of any off hand that focus solely on the criminals, but that's not because it's a rule or anything. These aren't interpretations I'm making of what the terms mean. There are very fundamental qualities that determine genres, and I don't think it is ever determined solely by the profession of the main character. |
