Then Butch takes into consideration the consequences, and puts himself on the other end of the stick. He then goes back and saves Marcellus. The way it is done, the way it is shot, the way it is acted is simply brilliant. It is one of the greatest scenes of all-time, dialogue or no dialogue. Well, since I know you love statistics so much (these are all community or public ratings, since I know you hate critics, although critics loved all of these movies anyway): Jackie Brown- 88% RT community, 7.6/10 IMDB, B on yahoo movies, 8.3/10 Metacritc. So at this point it hadn't worn off... Kill Bill: Volume 1- 91% RT community, 8.2/10 IMDB (#123 all-time), B+ on yahoo movies, 6.2/10 Metacritic Still hadn't worn off... Kill Bill: Volume 2- 90% RT community, 8.1/10 IMDB (#181 all-time), B on Yahoo movies, 7.2/10 Metacritic STILL hadn't worn off... Death Proof- 92% RT community, 8/10 IMDB, B on Yahoo movies, 7.3/10 Metacritic Hmm... So it seems as though you assumed that the wow factor or enjoyment had worn off, when it is quite obvious that it hasn't. Obviously they're not all going to match up with Pulp Fiction, because it is simply one of the greatest films of all-time, but all of his movies are loved by many. Not just a few people here and there, not just teens, not just adults, a large majority of people. Albeit one that he sort of "invented". And something that actually serves as a pace killer. Well, I pretty much disagree with all of that, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. |
