| The Signal - 7/10 Well, that was fucked. The film is divided up into three different parts, directed and written by three different directors. Each of these parts consists of the same characters, but each part is very different. The first part is excellent, creating a brutal, chilling atmosphere that gave true promise to the rest of the film. The second part brings a little more dark comedy into the mix, but was very interesting because you get to see it from the view of someone who has "the crazy". So far so good, two parts very good, chilling and often funny. Then the third part hit and it went completely down hill. It became confusing, stupid, and the sheer brutality, cleverness and creepiness of the first two acts was completely ruined by this third act, although the ending was very bleak and quite good. To sum it up, that's 2/3 which is .666... which rounds up to 7/10. Plain and simple. |
