| Well, finally I have seen Indy 4. My expectations were a bit lowered when reading the initial reviews and I must say this movie impressed me. Some aspects were very well done, especially the opening in the warehouse, the motorcycle chase, the nuclear blast and the ant attack in the jungle. What botters me the most about this movie is that it the whole crystal skull theme is a bit 'out there'. If they had chosen a true historical artifact, like Raiders or Last Crusade it would have more impact. Now it feels on par with Temple of Doom, with those sacred stones. Overall, this movie has the same feeling as Temple of Doom, it is a good flick but not in the league of Raiders or Last Crusade. Cate Blanchett was not very intimidating, I didn't believe in the whole Marion-Mutt thing and Marion could have been tossed aside. Shia was pretty good in his role, but the 'vine-scene'....WTF!!! Overall, it has some great moments and scenery. The crystal skull theme is nice, bit needed some more background. There was not a real sense of danger, except for the ant attack. I also missed some boobytraps. Ford was THE man, again, and born to play this role. Another thing that noticed me was that it didn't look like an Indy film. There is a constant 'over-lighting', a 'dream-like quality' that Spielberg uses often in his latest flicks but I did not resemble the prior films. Overal: 8.5/10 Raiders, Last Crusade: 9.5/10 Doom: 8.5/10 |
