The family had no character development either. They were all just a traditional family. None of them had the opportunity to have their characters developed before they began to be tortured. So while *the big tragedy* touched on our instinctual sense of loss and indescribable pain, I had difficulty actually caring for these people in particular. They were in the movie merely to be tortured.
