They are both very similiar in their styles. Hitchcock had many flops throughout his time but yet he is hailed as a genius. Night has had a few movies that were not as good as the previous ones but they all did really well. They both create suspense like it is no ones business. They both take our most basic fears and make them a reality on the screen. For instance, one reason why I thought The Happening was so good was because it played on one of our most basic fears, the unknown. Now you cant come back and say "well that just proves that he sucks becuase he steals from Hitchcock." Its the movie industry everyone steals from each other. If they didnt we wouldnt have any of the Tarantino movies. Night is somebody who has stuck with what he knows which is storytelling. The only problem I think you guys have is that he changes from movie to movie to storytell in a different way. He is orginal and doesn't stick with one form forever like Lucas does. |
