So I should probably rephrase what I said to being that her deceit gradually became focused to a more precise instrument instead of a defensive habit that kept that protective shell around her. The difference is in A) concealing her identity as a relationship insurance policy of sorts (the beginning), to B) her hiding her affair with Larry from Dan in response to how he deceived her with Anna (the end).
