It's possibly my favorite of the books (although The Deathly Hollows was pretty fucking awesome). Here's how I rank the movies. 1. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets- Insanely faithful to the novel, extremely dark, and very intense. Chris Columbus knocked this one out of the park and took arguably the weakest novel in the series, and really made it something special. 9/10 2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix- Although not as faithful to the book as I would have liked, it still is a great film. The acting has matured much to this point, and the quality of action is increasing. 8/10 3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Considering how great the novel was, it had a lot to live up to, and it almost made it there. There were a few big things that they left out from the novel though, which is why it isn't closer to the top of the list. Still an extremely entertaining, well-made and great film. 8/10 4. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban- Yes, it's the most well-made of the series, but the style out weighed the substance, and considering we're talking about a novel adaptation, substance is the most important thing. 7/10 5. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone- Well, it's the first in the series, and it is entertaining as hell. The thing is, the first book in the series is probably the weakest in the series, so the same can be said about the movie. Still a very fun movie. 7/10 |
