The movie was kinda disappointing. The good : - The opening sequence in the warehouse was very well executed, this is how the rest of the movie should have been. During the Hanger 51 scene, the Ark of the Covenant can be seen briefly inside a broken crate which was cool for the fans. - Harrison Ford still kicks ass at the age of 65, still has that charisma we all love. - The killer ants scene was amazing, those little critters looked very convincing, so did the atomic bomb testing. And now for the bad : - I didn’t care jack shit about the characters in this movie. It looked like the whole cast had too much fun on the set and they didn’t put any effort in their acting. - Cate Blanchett has to be the least menacing villain ever. I wasn’t afraid of her at all, just the opposite, I still wanted to f*ck her like that kid did in that movie Notes on a Scandal. - They could have replaced Ray Winstone with another bush hitting Shia LaBeouf nutts, that’s how much this character meant to me. - The alien plot wasn’t a bad idea, but they revealed to much. There should have been more mystery around it, and we only should have gotten some glimpses of the ship and aliens, not a total exposure. The temple and ship should have been loaded with death traps to make things exciting. The return of the crystal skull was too easy for Indiana Jones standards. - Producer Frank Marshall stated that the film would be shot the same way as the previous three - with stunt men, and using CGI only when necessary. Well that was big fat lie. The whole jungle chase looked fake to me. It makes me wonder, when those guys responsible for the CGI look at the test screenings of the movie, do they really think they did a good job ? - Apparently a sting from a scorpion is harmless. - John Williams score was lacking any kind of inspiration. Like he was lazy and just threw in the Indiana Jones theme several times to satisfy the fans, but unlike the other movies there was no real theme. Iron Man so far is still the best summer movie out there, in my opionion. I really hope it makes more money at the BO then Indiana Jones because it deserves to. |
